Designed by Australian-born, London-based designer Jon Bannenberg, with assistance from naval architect Fritz de Voogt, The Highlander was built at the De Vries Lynch shipyard in Holland. Chateau de Balleroy

Purchased in 1970 by Malcolm S. Forbes for Forbes Inc., Chateau de Balleroy--situated in Normandy, France, near Bayeux and Caen--is today the better part of four centuries old. The building still reflects with remarkable accuracy the innovative intentions of its architect, Francois Mansart, who drew up plans and began building the Chateau in 1626. Unlike numerous French precedents, the Chateau was not built on the site of an earlier castle and was intended as a full-time residence rather than a weekend hunting lodge. Therefore, Mansart incorporated the designs for a village into his plan as well. Construction of the Chateau lasted 10 years and was completed in 1636. Toward the end of the century, the estate passed through marriage into the hands of Jacques de la Cour and became a Marquisate in 1704. With brief interruptions, Balleroy remained in the same family until it was purchased in 1970 by Malcolm Forbes.

Over the years the Chateau de Balleroy and its large park have often played host to a renowned international balloon festival and fireworks display, and in 1975 the world's first ballooning museum was opened on the grounds.
